Carpet repair
Carpet repair, with seams as the specialty
Seam repair, stretching, patching and re-tacking for ripples, wrinkles and edges that have let go.
Ripples, open seams and frayed edges
Carpet rarely fails all at once. It goes slack across a room and ripples, it opens along a seam where two lengths meet, or an edge lifts away from the wall and starts to fray. Each of those is a repair problem, and none of them is fixed by cleaning.
A ripple is more than a look. The raised ridge is where every foot lands, so it wears first and fastest, and it is the spot someone eventually catches a toe on. Wrinkles do not flatten themselves; they travel.
Spectrum repairs carpet in homes and in commercial spaces, so the same crew that cleans a living room can look at the hallway seam you have been stepping around.

Seam repair is the specialty
Spectrum says it plainly: seam repair is its specialty. A seam that has opened is brought back together and joined so it holds and lies flat underfoot.
Stretching handles the slack. Carpet that has loosened is pulled tight and anchored again, which is the real cure for ripples and wrinkles. Re-tacking handles the edges, fastening carpet back down at walls and doorways where it has let go.
Patching covers the damage that is not slack at all: a burned, stained or chewed piece is cut out and replaced. A patch goes in best when a spare piece of the same carpet exists, so it is worth finding any remnant left in a closet or the garage.
Why stretching beats living with a ripple
A rippled carpet gets worse the longer it is walked on. The ridge takes the traffic, the pile along it flattens into a wear line, and the backing underneath is flexed over and over in the same place.
Putting the carpet back under tension spreads that traffic across the whole floor again. Pulling a room tight while the carpet is still sound is far better than waiting for a strip to wear through.

Match the problem to the repair
- Open seam
Seam repair, the specialty: the two edges are brought back together and joined so the line holds.
- Ripples and wrinkles
Stretching: slack carpet is pulled tight and anchored again so it lies flat.
- Lifting edge
Re-tacking: loose carpet at walls and thresholds is fastened back down.
- Damaged patch
Patching: the damaged piece is cut out and a replacement piece goes in.
Once the carpet lies flat, it is ready for a proper carpet cleaning. A pale patch that no repair or cleaning will bring back is a job for bleach repair and color correction, and rugs that are not wall-to-wall go to the area and oriental rug plant. Everything else is listed on the services page.
