Carpet cleaning

Carpet cleaning that starts with a walk through your rooms

Pre-inspection first, pre-treatment on the problem spots, then hot-water extraction, for homes and businesses around Frederick.

The walk-through decides the whole job

Before a wand touches the floor, a Spectrum technician walks the rooms with you. That walk-through is a pre-inspection: what the carpet is made of, what the fibre can take, and where the trouble sits. The traffic lanes from door to sofa, the pet spots, the spill that has had time to set.

It is also where the work gets scoped. Extra areas such as hallways, stairs and basements over 200 sq ft are confirmed with you before they are added, so the work order matches what you expect when the invoice arrives.

Residential and commercial carpet gets the same first step. Routine and deep cleans, stain and pet odor jobs, high-traffic lanes, move-in and move-out, pre-sale and post-renovation: each one starts with someone looking at the carpet before anyone cleans it.

Pre-treat the spots, then hot-water extraction

Every clean begins with pre-treatment. Targeted stain solutions go onto the problem areas the walk-through flagged, so the soil is already loosening before the water reaches it. Skip that step and a machine pass mostly moves a stain around.

Then comes hot-water extraction: hot water worked into the pile and pulled straight back out, carrying the loosened soil with it. The cleaning product is Procyon Plus Powder, an environmentally friendly formula, run by IICRC-certified technicians out of the Industry Lane shop in Frederick.

Soil left at the base of the pile is what grinds fibre flat and dulls the colour. Extraction is how it leaves the house instead of just changing rooms, which is why a clean carpet looks groomed rather than merely damp.

Dry in 12 to 24 hours, with a spotting bottle for the gap

A cleaned carpet is dry to the touch in 12 to 24 hours. Furniture that stays in the room gets foam blocks or plastic tabs under its legs, and customers have noted the extra foam and plastic left behind to protect their furniture.

You get a complimentary spotting bottle after the service for whatever lands on the carpet before the next visit, and protector can be re-applied on request. Before-and-after photos come with the invoice email, so you can see the lanes the clean opened up.

Questions before you book go to the office at (301) 662-8200, Mon-Fri 9 to 4. Mention the rooms, the pets and any spot you are worried about, and the walk-through starts there.

Spectrum is family-owned, on Industry Lane in Frederick since 1986, with IICRC-certified technicians. Call (301) 662-8200.

What stubborn stains looked like afterwards

“They were able to get stubborn pet stains out like they never happened.”

Jen Reed, Google review

“I was amazed when he was finished and the stubborn stains were hardly noticeable! He made the carpet look brand new!”

Megan Mcmahon, Google review

Carpet that has rippled or opened at a seam is a carpet repair job, and a pale patch from a cleaner or a sunny window is bleach repair and color correction. Pet odor that has gone deeper than the carpet has its own page under odor control. The full list sits on the services page, and getting the room ready covers the pre-vacuum, the draperies and the pets.
