Bleach repair and color correction

Pale spots corrected with dye matched to your carpet

A dye-friendly check, a clear estimate first, and custom dye matched in place.

Where bleach spots actually come from

Cleaning agents are the first cause: a splash of a strong household cleaner, a drip that dried before anyone saw it. Sunlight does the same slowly, fading a long stripe where a window throws light on the floor every afternoon. Traffic does it too, wearing colour off the lane from the door to the sofa.

All three leave the same thing behind. The spot is not dirty, it is missing colour. That is why cleaning cannot bring it back and why a stronger cleaner only makes the patch larger.

The fix is to put colour back, and that is what a bleach repair is.

Dye-friendly check, estimate first, then dye matched in place

Spectrum starts by inspecting whether the carpet is dye-friendly, because not every fibre will take dye. If it will not, you hear that before anything is mixed.

A clear estimate comes next, before any dye goes on. You see the number for the correction while the carpet is still untouched, and you decide from there.

Then a custom dye is matched to the surrounding colour and applied in place, on the floor where the spot is. The carpet stays down, and the correction is worked into the pile it has to blend with.

What colour correction can and cannot promise

A matched dye is judged by eye against the carpet around it, and that carpet has aged. Years of light and wear have moved its colour, so the target is the room as it looks today, not the sample card from when it was laid. A good match disappears in normal light, but dye restores colour only. It does not rebuild fibre that has been eaten away or thinned.

Keeping it from happening again is easier than fixing it. Keep bleach-based cleaners off the carpet and wipe any drip of them at once, and pull a curtain or blind across the window that has been fading the floor.

Estimate first. Dye second

That order is the whole promise: the carpet is checked, the estimate is on the table, and only then does a custom dye get mixed to the colour of your floor.

Cleaners, sunlight, traffic

The three causes behind nearly every pale patch, and all three are handled the same way.

If the carpet has also rippled or opened at a seam, that is a carpet repair, and a dye-corrected floor still wants a regular carpet cleaning. Rugs that are not wall-to-wall go through the area and oriental rug plant, and the rest of the list is on the services page.
